Netflix’s House of Cards

No, not this Qwikster business (Bart and Greg are probably the only people happy about that bit of news), but the actual House of Cards.  Netflix has been contemplating joining the content making business for sometime and their first stab is an attempted remake of the original British miniseries.  Though the series has a lot of talent behind it (like “Social Network” director David Fincher and Kevin Spacey), the move from Thatcherite England to modern DC (presidential systems lack the sort of interesting backroom scheming the original leaned on) and the transition from a 4-hour miniseries to a 26-hour tv show (even the original wanes as it trudges on) do not augur well for Netflix’s other ambitious venture.

Does this mean the series will be a complete flop?  You may very well think that, but I couldn’t possibly comment.
