And The Tent Shrinks Further

Jim Manzi (who everyone should read) is unwelcome at the National Review, despite being a board member there, but not The New Republic.  This development could also serve as an interesting lens on the two magazines’ approaches to criticism currently.



  1. I wonder if the fact that the air TNR breathes has particles of epistemic closure in it explains why they introduced the “In-House Critics” section. It could be they did so partially to set themselves apart from the right, and thereby reinforce the charge that epistemic closure is especially a problem for conservatives. That is also an “interesting lens” (and a coup for Julian Sanchez).
