Why Fans Shouldn’t Balance Games

Some people are too caught up in nostalgia to realize that Rest was changed between Melee and Brawl for a reason.  I’ve seen this trend in various fan patches for Age3 as well.  Balancing requires making a game less fun/cool in the name of fairness, something a fan of a game is always reluctant to do.

Also, people always always underestimate how hard it is to balance games, never anticipating how many moving parts are involved or how even little changes ramify outward.  There is probably a point about conservatism and government in there, but I am not quite hackish enough to unearth it.
