Today’s Fun Fact

The October Bolshevik Revolution actually happened in November.  Tsarist Russia, in keeping with Orthodox tradition, never transitioned to the Gregorian calendar and instead used the gradually more misaligned Julian scheme, which, by 1917, was 13 days off.  The Bolsheviks, in keeping with their anti-Orthodox and cosmopolitan views, adopted the Gregorian calendar shortly after seizing power, but they did so by shortening 1918 in the Soviet Union, rather than revise all historical dates, thus Red October remained.
